Reporting to the university
Tell someone such at the student union or university. That person will fill in a disclosure form with you, and information on how investigation and the process goes will be explained. (If your disclosure identifies an ongoing risk of harm to you or others, our duty to safeguard will outweigh any discretionary right not to report and we may have to inform the police).
You will then be referred to a sexual violence liaison officer who will support you in making informed choices. What support is there for Sexual assault and Harassment ?
Reporting to the police
You can contact the Police on 999 in an emergency or 101 non-emergency.The Police will take the initial details from you, this report is passed to the Sexual Offences Investigating Team (SOIT). SOIT will support and guide you through the process SOIT will collect evidence, with your permission SOIT will work closely with support agencies and will refer you to services.
If you do not want to make a formal report and/or are not willing for the accused party to be informed thaty ou have made an allegation, the University will not normally be able to investigate. A Disclosure of Student Misconduct Form is completed (anonymously)
The completed Form is submitted to Assistant Campus Registrar (ACR)
