What is the equality act?

Follow

The Equality Act (2010) was passed to help fight against discrimination towards those with long term impairments, health conditions and disabilities.

The Act states that disabled people should be treated equally. Protection from discrimination applies in many situations such as buying or renting property, education, employment, use of public buildings and services functions, facilities and transport.

You cannot use the Act against an individual, but it is sometimes possible to report this as a hate crime.
